Strategic Partnerships Office

 

Dr Karen Kennedy, Director

Karen is the Director of the Strategic Partnerships Office. The Office provides expertise and support to the University’s key partnerships and relationships, across disciplines and across the public and private sectors.

Prior to joining the University of Cambridge in 2018, she was Director of the National Cancer Research Institute and previously worked in strategic relations and programme management for research funders and scientific institutions, including Genome Canada and the Wellcome Sanger Institute.

Helena Brimson, Executive Assistant & Projects Coordinator

Helena works as the Executive Assistant to Karen Kennedy and Renata Schaeffer. She supports the Public International Partnerships and the Business teams with administration and recruitment. She also works with Simon Daly on delivering KTPs.

She is currently undertaking an apprenticeship in Project Management. She has worked at the University since 2019.

Katherine Ross, Administrator

Katherine works as an administrator supporting the business and international teams to ensure the efficient operation of all work undertaken both within the office and for meetings, events and workshops. She is PA to Catherine Hasted and works closely with Ingrid Hobbis on the DAAD Cambridge Research Hub for German Studies.

Previously, she has worked in other departments across the University, including UIS and the Safety Office. She holds an MA from the University of Cambridge.

Hannah Flewitt, Events Coordinator

Hannah works with the Public International Partnerships team (in conjunction with the Vice-Chancellor’s and Pro-Vice-Chancellors’ Offices) in the delivery of a wide variety of events, including meetings, conferences, seminars and visits to support the development of strategic partnerships.

Previously she coordinated Cambridge’s involvement in the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU), a network of eleven global research-intensive universities. During Cambridge’s tenure as IARU Chair and Secretariat (2021-2023), she was the main administrator for the network and organised the Alliance’s wide programme of activities.
She has worked in the higher education development sector, as Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Relations at Hughes Hall, one of the graduate colleges of the University of Cambridge. She also has extensive experience in the arts event management sector and holds an MA and MPhil in Musicology from the University of Cambridge.
