Meet the Team 

Mark Hayes, Head of Business Partnerships (interim) and Business Partnerships Lead (Digital and AI) 

Mark leads the Business Partnerships team and provides oversight, coordination and advice for the University's key industry partnerships in the digital sector.

Mark has worked in IT systems and project management since 1995. He has built sensor networks for air quality monitoring and data management systems for radiotherapy treatment of cancer. He has also studied how to measure data quality.

Dr Hui Wang, Business Partnerships Manager (Energy)

Hui manages strategic industry partnerships within the Energy sector. 

Hui holds a PhD in Environment Engineering and an MBA in Global Management, and has an interdisciplinary research background in Green Energy, Biotechnology and Analytical Chemistry. She has over a decade of experience in managing research and innovation collaborations between academia and industry in the UK and various international regions.

Khadija Amir, Decarbonisation Network Coordinator

Khadija manages the Decarbonisation Network driving industry-academia collaborations.

Khadija is an environment and sustainability specialist with over 13 years of experience successfully managing cross-functional teams and projects, stakeholder engagement and planning strategic initiatives with diverse partners. Khadija holds MSc in Sustainable Development (University of Exeter) and MSc Environmental Sciences (University of Peshawar).

Dr Manar Alsaif, Business Partnerships Lead (Decarbonising Industries)

Manar leads strategic industry partnerships for decarbonising industries.

Previously, Manar worked as a geologist in the energy industry, where her career spanned the full science and technology cycle, from research, to technology to operations and training. Manar holds a PhD in Earth Science and her expertise lies in structural geology and geodynamics.

Dr Marianna Kaimaki, Research Analyst

Marianna gathers and interprets data on business partnerships. She provides data insight and support to business sector managers, the Head of Business Partnerships and senior academics at Cambridge. She manages a pump priming fund for industrial related activity and works on events.

Marianna has previously worked in the Education Quality and Policy Office and the Research Office at the University. She holds a PhD in Linguistics. She has worked as a lecturer and researcher in Conversation Analysis and Phonetics.

Dr Nicola White, Business Partnerships Manager (Life Sciences)

Nicola manages strategic partnerships within the life sciences and healthcare sector. She works closely with academics and senior leadership in industry and the University. Her role is to identify and develop collaborative initiatives. She has a particular focus on the University’s partnership with AstraZeneca.

Nicola holds a PhD in Genetics. She has over 25 years’ experience working in the pharmaceutical industry and at the university-industry interface. She specialises in collaborative projects and programme management in clinical and non-clinical research alongside education and training in the area of healthcare and life sciences.

Sarah Fell, Communications Manager

Sarah’s role is to showcase the many ways in which businesses can work with the University of Cambridge.

She was previously a senior executive at Cambridge University Press. She led on marketing and communications for the University’s Institute for Manufacturing. Sarah also ran her own successful communications business.

Simon Daly, Business Partnerships Lead (Emerging Sectors) 

Simon helps corporate partners establish a rewarding relationship with the University. He has a history of successful business management experience in the academic, charity and commercial sectors. He has a passion for entrepreneurship within the university sector.

Simon is a graduate of the University of Cambridge and the London School of Economics. He has extensive experience of developing successful knowledge exchange partnerships between academia and a broad range of industrial and corporate partners.

Dr Tammy Dougan, Business Partnerships Lead (Life Sciences)

Tammy leads strategic partnerships within the Life Sciences and Healthcare Sector at the University of Cambridge. She works closely with University academics, senior business leaders, and other industry-facing initiatives to identify potential areas of collaboration across the University. She is strategic lead for the University’s key partnerships with GSK and AZ, along with other developing partnerships.

Tammy holds an MSc (Kings College, London) and PhD (James Cook University, Australia) in Immunology. She has worked for more than 25 years in research, strategy and partnership leadership in healthcare, life sciences and biotech, specialising in large-scale strategic bids and partnerships and is deeply connected across the Cambridge life sciences ecosystem and beyond.

Tyler Shores, ThinkLab Director

Tyler manages the University of Cambridge ThinkLab Programme. This connects researchers with public and private sector organisations. The aim is to produce research impact at scale.

He is completing his PhD in Education at Cambridge. His research focuses upon reading habits, social media and the impact of digital technology in everyday life. Tyler received his Master’s degree at the University of Oxford. He previously worked at Google where he ran the Authors@Google programme, one of the world’s largest collections of online lectures. He has served as director of digital content at an international education non-profit organisation. Tyler has also worked at the Stanford University (USA) online high school programme.
